Judge allows video at next Sheley murder trial
MORRISON, Ill. (AP) — A Rock Island County judge has allowed a video to be shown at the next trial of accused spree killer and convicted murderer Nicholas Sheley.
The Daily Gazette in Sterling reports (http://bit.ly/198RVtJ) that Rock Island County Judge Jeffrey O’Connor admitted the video into evidence on Thursday. The video shows an apartment where Sheley is accused of killing four people in 2008 in Rock Falls.
Sheley’s defense attorney Jeremy Karlin objected to showing the video and asked the judge to reserve judgment until he saw all evidence prosecutors planned to show jurors. The judge stood by his ruling.
Sheley’s trial is set for Jan. 10. The 34-year-old is accused of killing eight people in 2008 and has been convicted of murder twice. He is served two life sentences without parole.
