Man arrested in fatal Queens fire
NEW YORK (AP) — A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fire at a home in Queens that killed a woman in a wheelchair.
Police say Rampersaud Persaud was arrested Wednesday on murder and arson charges. Information on his lawyer wasn’t immediately available.
Police say the suspect, who also lived in the home, had an argument with the victim, 63-year-old Amzin Shaw.
Firefighters found the woman unconscious and unresponsive on the first floor of the home after extinguishing the fire Tuesday night. Authorities had said the fire suspicious and incendiary.
