The Greenwich High School softball team posted its second straight win, upending host Westhill, 25-2, in a five-inning game.
Sophomore catcher Olivia McClammy went 5 for 5 with an astounding 10 RBIs for Greenwich, which is 8-7 on the season. Violet Mikalopas was 4 for 4 with two RBIs, while senior Sophia Prieto went 3 for 5 with three RBI in the win.
Senior shortstop Emma Beinstein had three hits and three RBIs, while senior Kelly Brogan had three hits and knocked in four runs.
Prieto earned the win on the mound for GHS, which scored eight runs in the first inning and added five more in the second.
A strong fourth quarter propelled Brunswick past host Choate Rosemary Hall, 15-9, in a Western New England Division I game on Wednesday.
The Bruins outscored the Wild Boars, 5-0, in the pivotal quarter. They entered the final quarter leading only 10-9. Liam Fairback recorded three goals and two assists, while Coulter Mackesy recorded a hat trick to pace the Bruins. Brody Firestein and AJ Delgado each tallied twice, while Michael Gottlieb had one goal and one assist in the winning effort.
Brunswick (11-1, 6-0 Western New England Division I) led 4-3 after the first quarter and 7-6 at halftime. In the final quarter, Mackesy, Fairback, Delgado, Gottlieb and Cooper Moore each tallied for Brunswick.
GREENWICH ACADEMY TENNIS
Greenwich Academy continued its undefeated season, topping Taft, 9-0, on Wednesday.
Georgia Ryan kept her perfect season going at first singles for GA, winning her match, 10-1. At second singles, Emma Carney was a 10-0 winner for the Gators. Maddie Smith took a 10-3 decision at No. 3, while Lily Martucci was victorious at No. 4, 10-1.
Karina Toub and Andrea Jemiolo each won their matches at fifth and sixth singles, respectively, 10-3.
In doubles action, Annabel Thrasher/Toub teamed up for an 8-6 win at No. 1. Ryan and Carney were 8-1 winners at the second spot, while Jemiolo and Smith notched an 8-4 win at No. 3.
SACRED HEART TENNIS
The Tigers registered a 5-2 Senior Day victory over visiting St. Luke’s in an FAA matchup held on Tuesday.
Grace Coale gave Sacred Heart a win at first singles, defeating Maddie Harries, 6-4, 6-3. At second singles, Grace Pittaro was a 6-4, 6-2 winner for the Tigers. Molly Cadman won in three sets at third singles, 6-2, 2-6, 13-11 for the victors.
Stephanie Beshoory of Sacred Heart was defeated in her match at third singles, 6-4, 6-1. In doubles action, Megan Farrell and Isabella Gunningham won her match at the top spot, 6-3, 6-2. Nia Foster/Ursula Vollmer notched a three-set win at second doubles.
