Hargrave softball, baseball playoff series overview

Softball: Hargrave Lady Falcons (29-6-1, runner-up from District 21-4A) vs. Livingston Lady Lions (28-8, third seed from District 21-4A), best-of-three series

When and where: Game 1-Friday, May 10 at 7 P.M., Game 2-Saturday, May 11 at 11 A.M., Game 3 (if necessary)-Saturday, May 11 at 1 P.M. All games are at the Ballparks in Crosby.

How they got here: Hargrave swept Bridge City 8-0 and 9-2 in the Bi-District round and swept Sweeny 6-0 and 7-0 in the Area round. Livingston swept Silsbee 10-3 and 3-1 in the Bi-District round and beat Brazosport 9-0 in a single game in the Area round.

History: Hargrave is in the regional quarterfinals for the ninth time in the past 10 seasons and are looking to advance to the regional semifinals for the second consecutive season and the seventh time in the past 10 seasons. Livingston is in the regional quarterfinals for the first time since 2007 and are looking to advance to the regional semifinals for the first time since 2007.

Fun fact: Hargrave has played Livingston three times already this season. Livingston won 7-2 on March 29. Hargrave won 1-0 on April 18. Hargrave won 4-1 on April 23.

Baseball: Hargrave Falcons (15-8, District 21-4A champion) vs. Bay City Blackcats (10-12, runner-up from District 24-4A); best-of-three series

When and where: Game 1-Friday, May 10 at 4 P.M. at Baseball USA, Game 2-Friday, May 10 shortly after the conclusion of Game 1 at Baseball USA, Game 3 (if necessary)-Saturday, May 11 at 10 A.M. in Crosby*.

How they got here: Hargrave beat Silsbee 9-8 in the Bi-District round. Bay City beat North Forest 19-0 in a single game in the Bi-District round.

History: Hargrave is in the Area round for the 10t time in the last 11 seasons and is trying to advance to the regional quarterfinals for the second consecutive season and the sixth time in the past eight seasons. Bay City is in the Area round for the first time since 2008 and is trying to advance to the regional quarterfinals for the first time since 2008.

Fun fact: The Falcons are on a nine-game winning streak.
