Scottville man sentenced in vehicular death case
The 23-year-old Scottville man who was involved in the December 2017 vehicle crash that resulted in the death of 35-year-old Benjamin Compeau pleaded no contest on one count of committing a moving violation causing death.
Adams was sentenced on March 19 in 79th District Court, and must pay $1,415 in fines and costs. He could also serve up to one year in jail within the next year at the court’s discretion, and he must not violate and criminal laws or commit any traffic violations, according to court documents.
According to LegalDictionary.net, a defendant may be sentenced as if he or she were guilty if the defendant pleads no contest.
