August 19, 2018

The Winona Health Foundation’s 2018 Ben & Adith Miller Classic raised a record $225,000 for the Ben & Adith Miller Patient Care Fund, a charitable fund for individuals and families who receive healthcare services at Winona Health.

“The Ben & Adith Miller Patient Care Fund is a unique resource for our community,” said Betsy Midthun, vice president of Community Engagement at Winona Health. “We appreciate the participation of the many golfers and volunteers and the generous support of Hugh and Vera Miller, RTP Company and the dedicated sponsors who make this event a success.”

The Golf Classic was held Monday, Aug. 13 at Cedar Valley Golf Course and included the 18-hole Main Event and a 9-hole scramble. Golf pro Troy Merritt was on hand to give a demonstration and meet participants throughout the day. More than 30 Winona Health Volunteers were on hand to help ensure participants enjoyed the event, which was supported by 61 regional and international companies.

The Ben & Adith Miller Patient Care Fund was established in 1986 by Benjamin A. Miller, a former Winona-area businessman and philanthropist, in honor of his wife, Adith, to help local individuals and families in need pay for medical care at Winona Health. The annual Golf Classic began in 1990 as a fundraiser to help ensure ongoing funding for this unique community resource. In fiscal year 2017, the fund helped 812 people with more than $968,223 in financial assistance.
