2 killed in Brooklyn when car hits pole, catches fire
NEW YORK (AP) — Police say two men were killed when their speeding car crashed into a pole and burst into flames in Brooklyn.
The crash happened early Saturday the Marine Park section. Police say the driver of a Nissan Altima was speeding up Flatbush Avenue when he sideswiped another vehicle that was stopped at a red light.
Police say the Nissan ran the red light, mounted the concrete median and hit a light pole. They say the car burst into flames with the driver and one passenger inside.
Bystanders pulled the driver out of the car but were not able to remove the passenger.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names were not immediately released.
