Mother charged with drowning twins in bathtub
CANFIELD, Ohio (AP) _ A woman accused of drowning her 3-year-old twins in the bathtub before stabbing herself was charged on Monday with two counts of aggravated murder.
A warrant will be served Tuesday against Annette Giancola, who was hospitalized with a knife wound to the chest and in guarded condition Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Ms. Giancola, who was being treated for depression, called her husband at his accounting office Saturday and told him she had drowned their twins, Jonathan and Rebecca, authorities said. John Giancola found his wife semiconscious on the floor of the kitchen with a knife wound and found the twins in the bathtub.
Frank DeMain, coroner’s investigator, said the deaths were ruled homicide by drowning.
If convicted, Ms. Giancola faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
