NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) _ Dennis Rodman is sure the Los Angeles Lakers will re-sign him _ if they want to win.
``They ain’t gonna win with what they’ve got, I’ll tell you that,″ Rodman told the Orange County Register for today’s editions.
Although the Lakers haven’t offered anything formal, the flamboyant athlete who has made headlines on and off the court with his antics says Lakers owner Jerry Buss checked in on him recently.
``Just to see what’s going on, that’s all. Just to see where my head’s at,″ Rodman said.
``I know what’s going to happen. They’re going to wait until the last minute, and it’s going to happen.″
The phone at the Lakers’ public relations office rang unanswered early today.
The 38-year-old Rodman played for the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls before joining the Lakers for a short stint last season. The Lakers waived him in April.
