October 8, 2018

FLORENCE, S.C. -- A Lancaster resident died early Sunday morning in a wrong-way head on collision on US 76 in eastern Florence County.

The 2:45 a.m. crash happened a mile east of East Old Marion Highway when a 2005 Honda that was west-bound in the east-bound lanes of the divided highway ran head-on into a 2014 International tractor-trailer and then into an east-bound 2013 Chrysler, said Lance Cpl. Matt Southern, South Carolina Highway Patrol.

All drivers were wearing seatbelts and the drivers of the Chrysler and International were not injured, Southern said.

Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken identified the victim as Rachel Bruce Faile, 31. Faile was entrapped in the crash, Southern said.

The crash remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and the Patrol.
