Tristan Fowler — Boys Soccer

Last week, Lake Havasu sophomore Tristan Fowler scored a total of five goals over two games to lead the Knights with a pair of wins.

Fowler scored two goals in Havasu’s 5-3 win over Yuma on Thursday and on Monday the sophomore had a hat trick in the Knights 6-0 win over Kingman.

“I feel like it’s not just me. The team is doing really good,” Fowler said. “We definitely stepped it up after the Yuma game. That really pumped us up.”

Fowler currently leads the entire state of Arizona in goals with 20 scored and also in points with 47 over 10 games.

So far this season, Fowler has seven assists and is averaging two goals per match.

Also last week, Fowler was named Arizona’s soccer player of the week by stats website maxpreps.com

Cory Pellerin — Wrestling

So far this season, Lake Havasu senior Cory Pellerin is making the most of his move up to the 152-pound weight class from last year as he currently boasts a 28-1 overall record.

“I feel a lot stronger and faster than I have in the past years,” Pellerin said. “I feel like 152 is a good weight for me right now. I feel like everyone is bigger and a lot stronger than me but I’m trying to be faster and more critical with my technique and I think that’s why I’m winning.”

Pellerin earned his first individual title at the Big Red Memorial tournament in Avondale by pinning his way to the finals match. Although, Pellerin ended up winning by default he had complete confidence he would have won anyway.

“I didn’t like not having a finals match but my opponent got knocked out in the match before,” Pellerin said. “It was kind of disappointing but I know I could have beat him.”
