Warriors’ Dampier To Have Surgery
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) _ Golden State Warriors center Erick Dampier will have surgery to determine the cause of persistent swelling in his left knee.
Dampier, who will undergo diagnostic arthroscopic surgery on Thursday at the Surgery Center of Health South in Oakland, didn’t play in the preseason after having surgery on the same knee on Sept. 16.
The 6-foot-11 former Mississippi State star, the 10th overall pick in the 1996 draft by Indiana, originally injured the knee while working out during the summer.
Dampier, acquired from the Pacers in 1997 along with Duane Ferrell for Chris Mullin, averaged 8.8 points and 7.6 rebounds in 50 games last season for the Warriors.
