SOLDOTNA ANNEXATION

KENAI — The Kenai Peninsula Borough is urging the city of Soldotna to seek voter approval in its efforts to annex surrounding areas. The borough assembly voted Tuesday to oppose Soldotna’s plans, sending a resolution to encourage city officials to allow residents who live in the proposed annexation areas to vote on the issue, the Peninsula Clarion reported . CRUISE SHIP EXHAUST

JUNEAU — Exhaust emissions from a Norwegian Cruise Line vessel docking in Juneau prompted at least 10 complaints to an Alaska regulatory agency, officials said. The state Department of Environmental Conservation received at least nine calls and one electronic complaint about the exhaust flowing from the Norwegian Pearl’s exhaust stack as it docked Tuesday, the Juneau Empire reported .
