Belle Fourche School District proposes $9.72M 2019-2020 budget

BELLE FOURCHE –– The Belle Fourche School District May 13 presented its $9.72 million proposed budget for the 2019-2020 school year.

For the 2019-2020 fiscal year, the Capital Outlay Fund totals $2.868 million; Special Education, $2.373 million; Pension, $102,513; Qualified School Construction and Qualified Zone Academy bonds, $88,205; and food services, $685,700.

The proposed budget also delineates the anticipated forms of finance and revenue, based on an estimated 1,365 students enrollment for the 2019-2020 year. The local apportionment, which includes taxes and other local incomes, is proposed to total $2,707,700, representing a $171,000 increase from the 2018-2019 school year. The county apportionment, also generated from tax revenue, totals $150,000, $30,000 more than last year. The state apportionment, on the other hand, has decreased $76,600 since the last school year, funding $5,699,300. Federal funding has increased by $24,000, totaling $723,000.

The district will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget during its June 10 board meeting. The board meets at 5:15 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the district central office, located at 2305 13th Ave.
