North Carolina volunteer firefighter dies in wreck
SALISBURY, N.C. (AP) — A volunteer firefighter has died in a wreck as he was responding to a call in North Carolina.
New outlets report that 55-year-old Michael Goodnight died in a wreck around 2 p.m. Wednesday in eastern Rowan County.
Goodnight was a member of the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department in Salisbury.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said Goodnight was in a pickup when he ran into a car that was turning left as he attempted to pass across double yellow lines. Troopers say Goodnight was not wearing a seat belt.
Two women in the car were taken to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. There was no word on their condition.
