Fire destroys home in Lead

October 7, 2018

LEAD — Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out early Saturday morning in Lead.

The fire destroyed the home and two occupants are unaccounted for.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. members of the Lead Volunteer Fire Department and Search and Rescue responded to a report of a fire at 10 Parkdale Ave. They were joined by members of the Pennington County Fire Service.

Upon their arrival, the home was fully engulfed in flames

Fire Chief Tim Eggers said responders were unable to enter the home upon their arrival due to the high amount of smoke and flames engulfing the house.

Firefighters said efforts would continue throughout the day to mitigate the danger to nearby homes and to locate the residents.
