GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — An officer with the Grand Forks Regional Narcotics Task Force has shot and killed a dog that attacked another officer.

The officers were entering a home in Grand Forks to serve a search warrant on Friday afternoon when police say a “large, vicious dog” attacked the lead officer.

The dog bit the officer, and attempts were made to get the dog to let go. Police say a second officer tried to get the dog to release and ended up fatally shooting the animal.

Police say the search warrant involved agents from multiple jurisdictions, and the investigation leading to the search warrant is still active. No other details were released.
