Daily Journal staff report
COAL CITY — The body of a man missing since Sept. 4 was found in Coal City on Sunday.
According to the Grundy County Cororner’s office, James E. Roney’s body was discovered by juveniles playing in the area of abandoned greenhouses at Lincoln and North Streets shortly after 7 p.m.
Evidence at the scene indicated the 59-year-old Roney had been dead for a long period of time, Coroner John W. Callahan said.
There appears to be no foul play and an autopsy was done Monday. Preliminary results are inconclusive at this time waiting further test results.
Roney had been living with friends for the past several years in Carbon Hill, Callahan said.
Grundy County Sheriff and the Coal City Police departments are involved in the investigation.
