Green shares C-USA award

HUNTINGTON — Quarterbacks Isaiah Green from Marshall University and Chris Robison of Florida Atlantic University share Conference USA’s football Freshman of the Year honors.

Green was fourth in C-USA with 248.7 average passing yards per game. Green threw 15 touchdown passes with at least one in all nine games he played in. He has five games with multiple touchdown tosses with a season-high three against Eastern Kentucky University.

Robison completed 63. 2 percent of his passes for 2,533 yards, threw 12 touchdown passes and rushed for three scores. He set a school record with 471 passing yards against Air Force.

Middle Tennessee graduate quarterback Brent Stockstill received the C-USA Most Valuable Player Award. Stockstill topped the league in pass completions (301) and touchdown passes (28). He ranks fourth nationally in completion percentage (70.5) and 15th with 3,214 passing yards.

The Middle Tennessee father-son duo of Brent and Rick Stockstill received two awards. Rick Stockstill, the C-USA Coach of the Year, was

the first-place team in the East Division after being picked to finish third.

The Blue Raiders lost to UAB in the C-USA Championship Game.

North Texas junior quarterback Mason Fine received C-USA Offensive Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season. He has thrown for 3,743 yards and 27 touchdowns with only five interceptions.

Senior defensive end Jaylon Ferguson from Louisiana Tech leads the nation with 15.0 quarterback sacks and was named as the C-USA Defensive Player of the Year.

Rice senior Jack Fox became the first punter to collect the C-USA Special Teams Player of the Year Award. Fox had an average of 45.5 yards per put with 26 punts of 50 yards or longer and 31 placed inside the 20-yard line.

FIU junior quarterback James Morgan, a Bowling Green transfer was the conference Newcomer of the Year. He has 2,764 passing yards and 26 touchdowns.
