Gore Accepts Debate Invitation
WASHINGTON (AP) _ Vice President Al Gore has accepted a debate invitation from Judicial Watch, a conservative group that is one of the Clinton administration’s harshest critics.
The proposed Oct. 20 debate is on how a new president can ``return ethics to our government.″
Douglas Hattaway, spokesman for Gore, said the Democrat’s presidential campaign has accepted the invitation. Republican rival George W. Bush has yet to accept any debate proposals for the fall.
The two campaigns have squabbled in recent days over the timing and number of debates between their presidential candidates and between their running mates.
Judicial Watch and its chairman, Larry Klayman, have filed a series of lawsuits against the Clinton administration on issues ranging from access to FBI files to missing White House e-mails.
