AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) _ Cindy Brown had 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Detroit Shock to a 79-67 victory over the Utah Starzz on Friday night.

Sandy Brondello added 18 points and seven assists as Detroit overcame a record-setting performance by Utah's Margo Dydek.

Dydek blocked a league-record eight shots, and added 15 points and 11 rebounds to narrowly miss the first triple-double in league history. The eight blocks broke the previous record of six, which Dydek had tied against the Shock in Utah on Monday.

Utah led 37-33 at the half, but Brondello scored seven straight in a 16-2 run to start the second. Razija Mujanovic added five, and helped hold Utah without a field goal for the first seven minutes of the half.

Detroit led 66-60 with 2:47 left when Brondello hit one free throw and fellow Australian Carla Porter hit back-to-back jumpers to clinch the game.

Korie Hlede added 17 for Detroit. Kim Williams led Utah with 16.

Dydek dominated the first half with 11 points, nine rebounds and six blocks. The six rejections set a WNBA record for one half.

Detroit jumped out to a 29-23 lead, but Dydek's defense helped Utah finish the half with a 14-4 run.
