LOGAN, Utah (AP) _ Tony Brown scored 18 points and Shawn Daniels added 15 as Utah State beat No. 22 Utah 58-57 on Wednesday night.
Utah State (5-1) held off Utah (4-3) when the Utes failed to score on three chances in the 14 seconds.
With 28 seconds left, Utah set up a play for Travis Spivey, who drove into traffic and attempted a 6-foot jump shot.
Utah State’s Curtis Bobb got the rebound, and called a timeout as he was falling out of bounds. Bobb was then fouled on the inbounds play, but missed both free throws.
Utah then cleared the lane for Kevin Bradley, who missed on a finger roll and tip attempt. Teammate Mike Puzey missed another tip before the buzzer sounded.
Daniels scored eight points in a critical 10-1 run late in the second half as the Aggies took a 58-53 lead.
The Utes were 8-for-23 from 3-point range.
Utah has lost consecutive nonconference games for the first time in six years. On Saturday, No. 12 Southern California beat Utah 65-60 in the Wooden Classic in Anaheim, Calif.
