Pet python on the loose in Maine following previous escape
CAMDEN, Maine (AP) — Maine police are warning the public that a large ball python known to local officials is again on the loose somewhere in Camden.
Camden police announced Monday that the pet python had escaped its enclosure and was likely roaming around a nearby street. The Portland Press Herald reports police also attached a 2-year-old photo of the nearly 5-foot snake with Camden Police Chief Randy Gagne from a previous escape.
The ball python snake, also known as the royal python, is a nonvenomous constrictor snake. It is the smallest of the African pythons and is popular as a pet due to its relatively small size and docile temperament.
Police are asking anyone who spots the snake to contact Camden police.
