Dubis, Harbison Make U.S. Olympic Rifle Team
ATLANTA (AP) _ Glen Dubis and Rob Harbison shot their way onto the U.S. Olympic 3x40 rifle team on Sunday.
Dubis, of Bethel Park, Pa., finished the three-day match with an overall score of 3692.2 points out of a possible 3818 and Harbison of Fallston, Md., was second overall with 3679.1.
``I’m relieved the competition is finally over,″ Dubis said. ``Today was a real hard match to shoot.″
During the shooting trials at the Wolf Creek Shooting Complex, 16 qualified for berths on the Olympic team.
Bob Foth of Colorado Springs, Colo., had entered Sunday’s round in second place, but fell to fourth with 3673.8 points. Ken Johnson of Marshfield, Mass., finished third with 3676.
U.S. shooters will return to Wolf Creek April 15-17 for the North American Shooting Championships, in which up to 10 shooters will earn berths on the U.S. Olympic pistol team.
