Fond du Lac man makes initial appearance in Karavan Trailers threat case

September 19, 2018

A 22-year-old Fond du Lac man made an initial appearance in court on Monday after being charged with making a felony bomb scare.

Juan A. Gonzalez is accused of allegedly warning two other workers at Karavan Trailers in Fox Lake about his intent to blow Karavan up in July. He could face 3½ years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted of the charge.

According to the criminal complaint, the human resources director contacted the Fox Lake Police Department July 23 after hearing about the alleged threat. The two employees were interviewed and they said Gonzalez had a straight face when he told them about the threat without seeming like he was joking.

In court on Monday, Gonzalez received a copy of his criminal complaint and was notified about his rights and charges. Judge Martin De Vries set a $1,000 signature bond. Gonzalez is not to have contact with Karavan Trailers.

Gonzalez allegedly admitted to making the threats, but said he was joking. He will have a preliminary hearing in the case on Nov. 8.
