Country Singer Dwight Yoakam’s Ranch Destroyed in Flames With AM-Wildfires, Bjt
MALIBU, Calif. (AP) _ Jack Nicholson, Dick Clark, Tom Selleck and Sophia Loren were among the lucky ones. Dwight Yoakam wasn’t.
The country singer’s ranch was destroyed as flames roared down a Santa Monica Mountains canyon toward the sea.
″It’s gone, but they saved his four horses,″ the singer’s publicist, Teresa Redburn, said Thursday.
The singer of ″A Thousand Miles From Nowhere″ wasn’t at his ranch on Yerba Buena Road at the time. He has another house in the Hollywood Hills.
Neighboring homes owned by Nicholson and Clark escaped the flames Wednesday night. Selleck’s and Loren’s ranches in Hidden Valley, five miles north of Malibu, were spared when the fire raced through there the previous night.
Yoakam plans to rebuild in the rugged hills 40 miles west of downtown Los Angeles, Redburn said. ″He loves it there,″ she said.
