September 22, 2018

DICKSON CITY — Three people suffered injuries when the roof of a borough restaurant collapsed Friday night. Emergency crews responded to Denny’s, 410 Scranton-Carbondale Highway, around 8:15 p.m. It appeared decorative features on the ceiling “couldn’t hold up” and collapsed, according to borough Code Enforcement Officer Jim Damski. The diner will be closed until repairs are complete. Although there did not appear to be any structural damage, Damski said a structural engineer will need to inspect the building before the borough will issue a permit to begin repairs, he said. Dickson City Assistant Fire Chief John Wallo did not believe victims suffered life-threatening injuries. — FRANK WILKES LESNEFSKY
