Iowa 66, No. 17 Wisconsin 63
MADISON, Wis. (AP) _ Iowa, which got 13 points from Angela Hamblin, won with defense by holding No. 17 Wisconsin to 27-percent shooting in the first half of a 66-63 victory Tuesday night.
Wisconsin (13-6, 2-5 Big Ten) made just 10-of-37 shots in the first 20 minutes as Iowa (8-7, 5-1) built a 33-26 lead.
The Badgers trailed through the second half, but pulled to 64-63 on a free throw by Kelley Paulus with 59.3 seconds left. She missed a second free throw, and Iowa guard Cara Consuegra banked in a clutch shot from the lane with 30 seconds left.
Amy Herrig added 12 points, Kari Knopf 11 and Tangela Smith 10 for Iowa.
Ann Klapperich’s 17 points led Wisconsin, while Kelley Paulus had 15 and LaTonya Sims 14.
The Badgers’ Katie Voigt suffered most from the scoring drought, making just 1-of-14 shots, including nine from 3-point range.
The game attracted 16,296 fans to the new Kohl Center, which opened Saturday.
