Yeltsin Becomes Grandfather Again
MOSCOW (AP) _ Boris Yeltsin became a grandfather for the fifth time when his daughter Yelena gave birth to a healthy 7 1/2-pound boy Tuesday.
The Russian leader visited his daughter and newborn grandson in the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow, his press service said.
Almost immediately, the infant got a small political role to play: Russia’s semi-official ITAR-Tass news service said his birth might add more warmth to Yeltsin’s summit with Japanese Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto Saturday in Russia.
``Both leaders have big families,″ ITAR-Tass said, noting that Hashimoto has two sons, three daughters and three grandchildren.
Yeltsin has two granddaughters by Yelena and two grandsons by his other daughter, Tatyana Dyachenko _ the president’s image adviser.
