Woman accused of hitting officer, trying to steal patrol car
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Criminal charges have been filed against a woman accused of trying to steal a patrol car after punching a Portland police officer in the face.
KPTV reports police responded to a bicycle shop Monday on reports that a woman damaged bicycles and a computer.
A probable cause affidavit filed by a prosecutor Tuesday says an officer who tried to arrest Jessica Smith suffered a bloody nose when she was punched in the face.
The prosecutor wrote that Smith — despite being hit with a stun gun — then ran toward a car in the street but was unable to get in. Then she entered the patrol car, fiddling with the keys in the ignition before officers got in, turned off the engine and arrested her.
The 36-year-old woman has been charged with criminal mischief, assaulting a public safety officer and other crimes.
