DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) — State agents say a guard at a county jail in South Carolina unlocked the doors of two inmates so three other prisoners could beat them.

The arrest warrant against 27-year-old Demarcus Cooks says he watched the two inmates get attacked at the Darlington County jail on Feb. 4 and did not get medical help for the beaten prisoners.

The State Law Enforcement Division charged Cooks with misconduct in office on Wednesday.

The arrest warrant says surveillance video from the jail shows what happened and Cooks did not report the assault to his bosses.

Authorities did not name the inmates involved or give details about the assault.

It wasn't known if Cooks had a lawyer.
