MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Olympic 100-meter hurdles champion Sally Pearson will lead a team of 46 Australians to the world athletics championships in Moscow from Aug. 10-18.
Pearson, who has been struggling with hamstring injuries, returned to form with a win last weekend in the Anniversary Games in the London stadium where she claimed Olympic gold last year. She is also the defending world champion from the 2011 titles in Daegu, South Korea.
Australia’s team named Tuesday includes Jared Tallent, the 50-kilometer walk silver medalist from the London Games. Twenty competitors will be making their world championship debuts for Australia.
