North Carolina man charged in South Carolina beating death
ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — A North Carolina man has been arrested in the beating death of a man in South Carolina earlier this week.
York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson told news outlets that 22-year-old Charles Thomas Ridings of Denton, North Carolina, has been arrested in Charlotte.
Tolson says Ridings is charged with murder, armed robbery and grand larceny in the death of 45-year-old Scottie Starnes near Rock Hill.
The sheriff said Ridings is charged with stealing Starnes’ car after he was killed.
Family members found Starnes body Monday afternoon.
Ridings is being held in the Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, jail awaiting extradition.
