HIGHWAY BYPASS

BISMARCK, N.D. — Several property owners living along proposed routes for a north Bismarck bypass of U.S. Highway 83 are raising opposition to the project. A number of landowners claim they were left in the dark about a study of potential bypass routes. SENT: 130 words. UPCOMING: 250 words.

KEYSTONE XL-SOUTH DAKOTA

BUFFALO, S.D. — The company planning the Keystone XL oil pipeline is moving to condemn private land in northwestern South Dakota's Harding County. TransCanada Corp. has filed eminent domain condemnation petitions in state court against parcels of land owned by two families. At least one of them plans to fight. VIKINGS-FORBATH

EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings have released kicker Kai Forbath, completing their plan to turn over the job to rookie Daniel Carlson. Forbath was let go after one of his two field goal attempts in Minnesota's last exhibition game missed by hitting an upright. Since the Vikings drafted Carlson in the fifth round out of Auburn, Forbath's time with the team was bound to be limited. WNBA PLAYOFFS

The WNBA playoffs are set as a wild, unpredictable regular season came to an end Sunday. As expected Los Angeles and Minnesota will meet in the postseason for a third straight year. Unexpectedly it's in the first round. The two-time WNBA finalists finished a surprising sixth and seventh in the regular season and will face off in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
