One dead, one injured Thursday in LaGrange Township motorcycle crash

LAGRANGE TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A woman died Thursday and a man was hospitalized after a motorcycle crash in Lorain County, according to the State Highway Patrol.

Jeffrey Phan, 68, of Elyria, was driving a 2015 Yamaha FJR about 3:20 p.m. Thursday northbound on State Route 301 south of Whitney Road when he went off the right side of the road into a ditch and struck a culvert, the State Highway Patrol said.

Phan and his passenger, Nanette Phan, 68, of Elyria, were thrown off the motorcycle. Nanette Phan suffered was pronounced dead at the scene, the State Highway Patrol said. 

Jeffrey Phan suffered critical injuries and was flown by helicopter to MetroHealth Hospital. 

The State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Investigators do not suspect alcohol or drug use to be involved.
