Death investigation underway after Colorado Springs fire
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A death investigation is underway after a man was unresponsive in a burning home in Colorado Springs.
Police Lt. Howard Black tells The Gazette that firefighters discovered the man while extinguishing a blaze at a four-unit home in the southeastern part of the city on Wednesday morning. The victim’s name and age have not been released.
Black also said one firefighter suffered “very minor” injuries.
Tony Rice, of Colorado Springs, said he was sleeping when the smoke alarm went off, and he got out as fast as he could.
Rice’s friend, with whom he was staying, was given CPR and taken to a hospital. Police later tweeted that a death investigation was underway.
