Detroit 103, Cleveland St. 74
DETROIT (AP) _ Brian Alexander scored 18 points to lead seven Titans in double figures and Detroit jumped out to a double-digit lead just four minutes into the game en route to a 103-74 win over Cleveland State on Saturday.
Jermaine Jackson’s jumper with 15:59 to play in the first half put Detroit (12-7, 4-5 Midwestern Collegiate Conference) up 15-4 and the Titans held a double-digit lead the rest of the game.
Detroit led 53-26 at halftime and led by as many as 31 points seven times in the second half.
Derrick Zeigler scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Cleveland State (5-14, 3-7). Leonidas Skoutaris and Corey Robinson scored 11 points each and Eric Nichelson added 10.
Leon Derricks scored 15 points, Iyapo Montgomery had 13, Carl Pickett scored 11 and Jackson, Terrance Porter and Perry Robinson added 10 points each. Pickett also had eight of Detroit’s 20 assists.
The Titans, who outrebounded the Vikings 41-30, were helped by 14 Cleveland State turnovers and seven steals.
