September 18, 2018

KENOSHA — Luther Prep volleyball went 1-3 against bigger schools at Saturday’s Kenosha Tremper Invitational.

The Phoenix beat the hosts (25-15, 20-25, 15-10) but lost to Oak Creek (25-22, 25-19), Kenosha Bradford (31-29, 25-21) and Whitefish Bay (25-19, 25-22). Megan Riley had a big day for LPS with 28 kills, 23 digs and 2.5 blocks.

“I thought we matched up well with all the teams we played today but we had a hard time managing our own errors,” Luther Prep coach Erin Nottling said. “We only lost by a total of 15 points all day but we had that many service errors.

“We had some great moments of volleyball too, but we need to manage our errors for the second half of our season. I believe in these girls and I know they have the ability to bounce back from some frustrating losses.”

Andrea Bortulin finished with 51 assists and 18 digs while Grace Kieselhorst added 32 assists and 13 digs. Ally Goba accounted for 45 digs while Marisa Shevey had 19 kills and Carly Hirsch added 16.

Luther Prep (11-7) hosts Lake Mills Tuesday.
