HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A young girl was injured when she apparently darted in front of a police motorcycle Saturday during the University of Connecticut victory parade.

The name of the victim and her condition were not immediately available, although police said her injuries did not appear serious.

The girl was taken to Hartford Hospital and later transferred to Connecticut Children's Medical Center, said spokesman Chris Boyle.

Witnesses said the girl dashed onto Capitol Avenue and collided with the motorcycle. Witness Rob Lavigne said the girl was dragged a short distance before the motorcycle could come to a stop.

The parade was halted briefly, but continued after the girl was placed in an ambulance.
