December 30, 2018

Two Fort Wayne residents were arrested Friday night after detectives with the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Gang and Violent Crimes unit located an alleged gang member.

According to police, at about 10:10 p.m., detectives observed Franklin Wright, 27, in the passenger seat of an SUV driven by Kierra Barr, 20. During a traffic stop near the intersection of East Sherwood Terrace and Lafayette Street, Wright allegedly presented false identification. Barr allegedly aided Wright’s cover story, providing false information about him to police.

Wright had three active arrest warrants at the time of the traffic stop. Those warrants included a probation violation for carrying a handgun without a license, resisting law enforcement, and driving while suspended. Wright was also charged with failure to appear in court.

Detectives found 15 grams of heroin in Barr’s possession, along with 14.3 grams of Ecstasy pills, synthetic marijuana and drug dealing paraphernalia. Barr was charged with dealing in heroin, possession of synthetic marijuana, possession of Ecstasy and assisting a criminal.
