Stamford’s students with disabilities help beautify local firehouses
STAMFORD — Firefighter Mike Battinelli and several fellow firefighters from Stamford’s fire station #3 helped students from Stamford Public Schools Individuals Achieving Independence (IAI) program plant flowers at the Westside fire house on May 15, 2019 in Stamford, Connecticut.
Student Christele Thomas and six other students from the IAI program planted spring flowers alongside firefighters. They spent the day planting sunflowers and shrubs to beautify the firehouse grounds.
This is the fourth year that Stamford Public Schools Social Worker Laura Marino and Engine 3 Stamford Firefighter Tony Marino have paired students with disabilities with firefighters to help learn life and vocational skills.
