POCATELLO - Aid for Friends shelter on South 4th Avenue in Pocatello currently houses 20 children and their family members.

UsbornePocatello.com and the America Reads Program in the College of Education at Idaho State University is sponsoring a book drive for the children living in the shelter. New and gently used children and young adult books will be collected now through March 18.

“With this book drive we hope to provide each child in the shelter with several books of their own as well as supply the shelter with books for a lending library, ” said organizer Nicolle Johnson. “We would love to collect more books than the shelter can manage because the surplus will be donated to local elementary schools for classroom libraries as part of the America Reads program.”

You can purchase books for the shelter (or for yourself) at AidForFriends.UsbornePocatello.com

Select “ship with organization” to receive free shipping on your order with pick up of personal books at the College of Education required upon delivery on April 3. Free books worth half of total sales will be given to the shelter.
