Snowstorm expected to impact southern Wyoming this weekend

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A winter storm warnings, watches and advisories have been posted for much of Wyoming through this weekend.

The National Weather Service says snowfall will develop across central and southern Wyoming by Saturday morning. The snow will spread into southeast Wyoming on Saturday and continue into Sunday afternoon.

Significant snowfall is expected with Casper and Rock Springs potentially in line to get up to 12 inches (30.5 centimeters). Both cities as well as Lander and Evanston are under a winter storm warning.

A winter storm watch is posted for a large area, including Cheyenne, Rawlins, Wheatland, Douglas, Torrington, Lusk and Laramie where around 8 inches (20 centimeters) is possible.

Higher amounts can be expected in the mountains.
