Officers injured in crash caused by suspected drunken driver
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Providence police officer has been injured in a crash that investigators say was caused by a drunken driver who ran a stop sign.
Police say a woman driving a car with three passengers ran a stop sign at the intersection of Dean and Bond streets at about 1 a.m. Monday and struck a police cruiser.
The officer and two people in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital, but their injuries are not considered life threatening.
Police said the suspected drunken driver, who was not injured, refused to submit to a chemical test.
No names were immediately released.
