DENTON, Texas (AP) _ Faron Hand scored 19 points, including 3 points in overtime, leading Nevada to an 80-79 victory over North Texas in a Big West game Thursday night.

Nevada (18-7, 12-3 Big West) led for most of the game and held a 69-61 advantage with 2:37 to go in regulation.

But North Texas (10-15, 5-10) held the Wolf Pack scoreless down the stretch and the Eagles' T.J. Atkins hit a layup with six seconds left to tie the game at 69-69 and force overtime.

In the extra period, Atkins hit a free throw with 2:13 left to give North Texas a 74-73 lead, its first since the opening minute. Nevada then got a breakaway dunk from Paul Culbertson and never trailed again.

Also in double figures for Nevada were David Morgan with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Jimmy Carroll with 16 points.

Charles Washington and Chad Elstun each had 17 points for North Texas. Atkins had 12 points.
