LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Los Angeles police say Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias was arrested for investigation of misdemeanor domestic battery. Police say Urias was arrested Monday night in the parking lot of the Beverly Center shopping mall. Urias pitched three innings of scoreless relief for his second career save Friday night in the Dodgers’ 5-0 victory over the Washington Nationals.
EAGAN, Minn. (AP) _ The Minnesota Vikings have signed first-round draft pick Garrett Bradbury, the center from North Carolina State who was selected with the 18th overall pick. The Vikings also confirmed they restructured the contract of linebacker Eric Kendricks for salary cap compliance.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ The New York Giants have a new right side of their offensive line. Two months after acquiring right guard Kevin Zeitler in a trade with the Cleveland Browns, the Giants found a new right tackle, signing veteran free agent Mike Remmers. The 30-year-old Remmers has played for Minnesota and Carolina, starting all 71 games in which he played the previous five years.
BOSTON (AP) _ A former soccer coach at the University of Southern California has pleaded guilty to creating fake athletic profiles for the children of wealthy parents in the college admissions bribery scheme. Laura Janke pleaded guilty today in Boston federal court to conspiracy to commit racketeering. Authorities say the former assistant women’s soccer coach helped make bogus athletic profiles to get applicants admitted to universities as recruits for sports they didn’t play.
ROME (AP) — Serena Williams has withdrawn from the Italian Open ahead of her second-round match against sister Venus due to an old left knee injury. Tournament organizers made the announcement today, a day after Serena opened her clay-court season with a straight-sets win over Swedish qualifier Rebecca Peterson. It’s the third straight tournament the 37-year-old Serena has exited from due to physical problems.
