Kansas Coach Killed While Moving Goal Post
GIRARD, Kan. (AP) _ A high school football coach was electrocuted and a teenager severely burned Friday while trying to move a goal post near power lines at the Girard High School practice football field, authorities said.
Craig Crespino, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
A 16-year-old boy was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. His name and condition were not immediately known.
The two were moving a steel pipe goal post when it grazed a 7,200-volt power line just before noon, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department said.
Crespino, a high school physical education teacher, had coached the Trojan football team since 1992. He also coached the boys’ track team and served as one of Girard High School’s two activities directors.
