Senior facility hit by attic fire

September 3, 2018

Fifty-five residents at an assisted living center were safely evacuated to a different wing Sunday morning while Fort Wayne firefighters fought a fire in the attic.

At 7:46 a.m. firefighters responded to 8075 Glencarin Boulevard at the North Woods Village, on the city’s southwest side, to the report of something burning, a statement from the department said.

During a search of the building, firefighters discovered a fire in the attic.

It took the fire department several hours for crews to remove the burning insulation out of the attic and get the blaze under control.

No one was injured, and the fire remains under investigation.
