Barboursville police blotter: Stolen vehicle found, dogs locked inside

BARBOURSVILLE — The following information was provided by police reports filed at the Barboursville Police Department:

STOLEN VEHICLE: A vehicle reported stolen out of Virginia was recovered after it was found in the TJ Maxx parking lot the afternoon of Sept. 14 with dogs locked inside without air conditioning.

Police initially responded to an animal control complaint in which they discovered two dogs and several newborn puppies were in the hot vehicle in question. Police gained entry to the vehicle, and the dogs were taken by Cabell County Animal Control.

Officers also found a .380 caliber pistol, several rounds of ammunition and one unicycle in the vehicle. No suspects were found.

GRAND LARCENY: Two people were arrested Sept. 16 after allegedly stealing more than $2,000 worth of merchandise from Macy’s.

Sherri Dawn Wilkerson, 38, and Christi Ashley, 54, were arrested on shoplifting charges and transported to Western Regional Jail. Ashley had a warrant for third offense shoplifting.

A loss prevention officer at Macy’s told police the suspects concealed $2,105.50 in merchandise and walked out of the store, where the loss prevention officer detained them.
