Cabell Midland prepares to host annual Christmas Madrigal
ONA — Cabell Midland High School Collegium Musicum, under the direction of Ed Harkless, is presenting the 25th Annual Christmas Madrigal Dinner Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7-8, in the school’s cafeteria. The event began during the opening year of CMHS and is a tradition in the school and the community. The menu planned for this year includes baked ham, green beans, potato and a roll. Wassail, a mulled cider, is also available. Senior student Taylor Haley has again designed cover art for the program and shirts. Members of the class met all summer working on the script.
“This undertaking would not be possible without the support of parents and choir boosters as well as business sponsors and the support of the administration of CMHS,” Harkless said.
This year’s story, “The Royal Games,” involves a pirate, a lost son, an outlander or two and other surprises along the way. King Thurston decides that, along with celebrating the season, to be “charitable” and host games of conquest with an interesting reward for the victor.
All tickets are $15 per person and may be purchased from any Collegium Musicum member or parent. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show and dinner beginning at 7 p.m. each evening. The community can purchase advance tickets, as the show has sold out in previous years. For more information, contact the school office at 304-743-7400, ext. 7420, for more information.
